Middle School Grades 5-8

Grades 7-8 at 8:00-9:00 PM

Youth Ministry Grades 9-12
Youth Ministry at Our Lady of Mercy totally involves its members of high school age on many levels and in a large assortment of activities.

We believe that by understanding ourselves, and by our friendships and relationships with others, we can come to a real appreciation of the Gospel. Jesus teaches people through people -- wherever we are, whomever we meet.

Youth Ministry at Our Lady of Mercy is sensitive to the need for a variety of experiences, -- for teaching and sharing faith experiences; for fun and being with friends (ball games, ski and rafting trips, hockey games, talent shows, Great Adventure, Broadway shows, parties, and dances); for growing in friendships and deepening relationships (overnight retreats, prayer services, days of reflection and recreation, service projects).

Our programs are never exactly the same -- although some basic structure is repeated. We are a group of people who are flexible and open to creativity and surprises.

What is Youth Ministry about? We are teens who are active and vibrant, who love life, good friends and good times. It is about teens who are looking for meaning in their lives. Youth Ministry is about our church and our community. Most of all, it is an invitation for all teens to look to Christ who gives us the meaning of life.

Exceptional Children and Young Adults
In our program for exceptional children and young adults, we attempt to foster within our children and young people a love for God and the Church, a sense of belonging to the Christian community and a spirit of generosity and responsibility. Our exceptional teenagers and young adults have the opportunity to attend dances and parties sponsored by the parish.

On each grade level, regular attendance by the children throughout the school year is required.

Realizing that the faith of the child is dependent to a great extent on the quality of the faith life of the adult community, we ask parents to attend any scheduled meetings.

Adults and teens of the parish are always needed as regular and substitute teachers, for clerical and supervisory tasks and aides. Periodic training programs assure that each volunteer has the proper preparation for this important role.
